Big news: A has accepted her spot at Sidwell! Very exciting! Congratulations, A!
M is still deciding. She made a spreadsheet tonight and ranked all the schools on a number of criteria. It resulted in a tie.
And here is the update on N. He had a piano lesson yesterday and this was the report from the piano teacher:
This is what Nate learned today:
The staff (the five lines for musical notation)
The treble cleff (not to be confused with “trouble”)
Where the notes, G, and C are placed on the staff.
The scale of E with four sharps
He was awarded another postcard of a painting—another Renoir. (actually of two girls at the piano—could they be his sisters?)
He also has a beautiful box in which to store his postcards.
He has a very good sense of timing (rhythm for the beats of the notes) and a good ear, distinguishing between major and minor.
He’s a wonderful student!
Your piano teacher.
