Happy New Year!

We are back in DC and back into the swing of things… almost.

We drove home from the OBX yesterday – again, a fast drive at 4.5 hours – and made it home by around 4:30. We did make a pitstop for donuts on our way out of town, and N didn't throw up, so that's good. We unpacked a bit, I went grocery shopping, and we headed out for a fun NYE dinner/party at Sarah's house. It was mellow and fun and the kids all had a good time. N made it til 12:30, when we headed home. He slept until 11:30 today! Oh, and I forgot to mention that he DOES have strep. The doctor called last week to say that the long culture was positive. )Note to self: call doctor's office and have them delete the landline from their database! We never check it.) He's now on meds and hopefully will be 100% when school starts on Wednesday.

So it was a fun NYE and we were happy to be out together.

Today was spent sleeping (kids), driving around downtown taking photos of historic places/statues for the girls' history class, working on essays, and generally cleaning up at home. It was like 25 degrees so taking photos and walking around was quite unpleasant, but the kids were good sports. There are a lot better ones on M's phone and I'll post a few tomorrow. No one was smiling outside the White House (except N, who wondered if maybe Hillary would be there since Trump was away).

We gave the kids these books for Chanukah where you answer the same question on the same day for three years. N got a younger version than M&A did. Here is N's first entry:

The kids have one more day off of school but it's back to work tomorrow for Dan and me.
