In other news, tomorrow kicks of N's first full week of school and the girls' second full week of school. A has a bad Spanish teacher but the rest of the teachers seem great so far. We're working on the Spanish situation.

It still feels like summer here weather-wise, but it feels like fall in every other way.

A went to her first Bat Mitzvah last night (Rachel Suissa) and she had a great time. She came home with a lot of photos and a smile on her face.

Daddy asked the kids to list their favorite things in Italy.

Here is N's list:

  1. The rides in Bellagio
  2. The gardens with all of the steps
  3. The ferry rides
  4. The Villa Chicca
  5. The hotel in Milan
  6. Getting the magnets
  7. The food – pasta and pizza
  8. The gelato
  9. The airplane
  10. The comfy grass

And here is A's. It's long. It had photos too, but they didn't make it in the cut and paste. M has asked me not to share hers.

Italy Vacation:

1: Venice- beautiful, loved shopping, magical.

I loved the water buses. I also loved going to the hotel you stayed at when you guys were on your honeymoon! Everything was beautiful and I loved walking around everywhere looking at the little shops. Mommy was right, it IS like an amusement park for grownups! I loved all the bridges too, like the bridge of Sighs. The 5 hour drive was worth it.

2: Menaggio- Beautiful little town, great food, so colorful.

I loved walking down the street along the lake. The dinner was fantastic. The ice cream was even better! It is such a cute town! It was obviously the best place to take pictures and panoramas and I loved being able to see the two sides of the Y too! Even though it was very small, it was definitely one of the most charming towns.

3: The Villas- Grand, beautiful, incredible view.

Each Villa had something different and unique about it. Each one more beautiful then the next. The Villas were so interesting and so big and fancy. From the 45 minute walk to looking around in the gardens, they were all spectacular. Even though we didn’t see the 4th one, the ones we went to I loved. They all looked like majestic castles.

4: Bellagio- So much to explore, so cute, amazing scenery.

I loved spending every minute walking the wonderful ground of Bellagio. The small shops, the view, the friends talking out of the window, (which was adorable). Not to mention the prettiest parking lot ever. Every bit of it was so pretty. Although we went there a lot, it never got old. It gets better each time you go.

5: The Last Supper- Once in a lifetime, WOW, delightful.

I just think the thought of looking at a wonderful piece of art is unbelievable. This one happens to be even more special because you can only see it on a special tour! I don’t get to see Leonardo de Vinci’s work everyday! It was so special! I thought the painting was truly amazing and I can’t believe I got to see it!

6: Little Lezzeno- home sweet home, little, peaceful.

There was nothing better then our little home in Lezzeno. Lezzeno was so cute and calm. It was amazing to eat dinner in our beautiful porch listening and looking over all of Lake Como. It is really the best place to have a nice relaxing time. Also, who doesn’t love dancing in weird ways and opera singing in the lake?

7: THE FOOD- Delicious, fresh, unforgettable.

What is possibly better than Italian food? Nothing! Every single meal was incredible. It was all so delicious! Plus, the gelato was amazing too. It is definitely one of the biggest things I miss in D.C..  In an ideal world, the Italians would make the food. Even the small hotel on the corner was great. I love all that fresh food!!

8: Milan (without last supper)- Interesting, FASHION, pretty.

I loved walking around Milan, (even with a stomach ache), and looking at all the stores. They were all so fancy! Prada, Gucci, etc. I also loved getting the sticker dolly dress-up books. 🙂  I also loved the beautiful walking tour and looking at all the cool places like the castle, the cathedral, the cool architecture like the needle and pin for the fashion Capital!

9: Downtown Como- ONE. WORD. TIGER.

Not only is downtown como cute and pretty and looks like a different version of Venice on land, it has the one and only most amazing, fantastic, terrific store in the world. It has the home of……….. drum roll………………… TIGER!!! Tiger is amazing! It is the best store ever and is like my dream heaven.

NUMBER 10: The boats!- Cute, little, great transportation.

It is something small but something I loved. I love waiting at the cute little churches and watching the boats go back and forth. They were nice and pleasant and so much better than going on some boring highway to get from place to place. I love how the boats travel up and down the Y and at 8:00, it is time to go home and go to bed and Italy’s lights turn off.

THAT WAS MY TOP 10 LIST FROM ITALY!!
