Tonight is sadly our last night in Lake Como.
Yesterday was our marathon day trip to Venice. Lots of hours in the car, but we had about 4.5 hours in Venice and made the most of it. A late lunch at the same hotel where Daddy and I went on our honeymoon, then walking around Accademia, then over toward St. Mark's and gelato, then grabbing sandwiches for the ride home, the slow/scenic vaporetto back to the parking lot, and then the long ride home, punctuated by a stop at a really nice rest stop. We didn't get back to Lezzeno until after 1. But it was great and we have a TON of photos – all of us – of that gorgeous city.
Today we laid low for most of the day – Daddy and I each kayaked basically across the lake, and the girls swam a bit. A was in the lake for quite a while. singing opera and doing funny dances. In the late afternoon, we went to Bellagio and then took a ferry to Menaggio, which is officially my favorite town on the lake that we visited. It has a nice summery, beachy vibe, a little more laid back and cute than the other towns. We went to a yummy restaurant that we found on TripAdvisor, then crammed in some gelato on our way to catch the last ferry back to Bellagio at 8:15. M went on the flying trampoline ride, finally, and N went on the pig roller coaster – rides that we've done in Bellagio en route back to the car a few times.
M and I got a lot of reading done. 🙂
Tomorrow we pack up and leave for Milan, where we overnight before flying home on Sunday.
Italy has been a hit in so many ways – gorgeous, great food, relaxing, and lots to do. We've really enjoyed it.
Where to start with the photos? Sigh.
