We've had two more great days in Lake Como. Yesterday we went to Bellagio and walked around, then toured the gardens of the Villa Melzi. it was a holiday here so the town was very crowded and parking was a major challenge. After the Villa, we walked to the Bellagio Sporting Club and swam in the pool (well, I didn't, because it was cold), and then we had dinner there.
Today we went to two more towns across the lake – Lenno and Tremezzo – where we toured two more beautiful villas: Villa Carlotta and Villa Balbienello. Everything we've seen has been gorgeous, and the lake is a stunning backdrop. We got late starts both days (surprise!) and ended up eating gelato at lunchtime and then being ravenous by dinnertime. But we are eating very well and enjoying every bite.
N has been a trouper through some long days and lots of walking. He doesn't hesitate to make it known when he's unhappy, but overall he has been great, as have the girls. We're all enjoying a relaxed, unhurried schedule.
We told the girls today that we want to take them to Venice on Thursday as a special treat. I think we are going to drive there and back. It will be a long day but we're excited to show them the magic of Venice.
I know some photos are sideways. I am having formatting issues and some pics won't post at all (including one of Daddy). I promised myself I wouldn't spend this vacation on my laptop and I already have spent hours tonight trying to get this post done. So I am signing off!
