N's latest favorite toy is my labelmaker. He likes to type his favorite words in, push print, and then detach the label. Right now, we are out of tape, but I will replace it soon. Here are the word labels he printed this week: NATE, nate, book, stroller, 1234567890, and boob. When I asked him about where he sees boobs, he said, "in your bathroom, Mama."
Tomorrow is his last day of camp for the week. Today they had a visit from a reptile exhibit. He told us tonight that reptiles hadn't come, but snakes had. Hmmm.
Meanwhile, no word from the girls! I sent off a care package and another one is going out tomorrow. Hopefully they will get them soon!
I did see these photos on the site today:
And here is the update from camp:
Hello families of Unit D!
The campers have having a blast at camp!! Now that we’re in the routine of activities, the girls have really hit their stride.
Yesterday, some of our campers went on the first Broadway trip! They saw “School of Rock” and got the chance to explore the city a little bit. They left very early in the morning, and arrived back late last night. Even though it was a long day, the girls only had positive things to say about the trip and were full of smiles this morning!
For the campers that were in camp yesterday, we had a full day of activities! The bunks went to all sorts of different activities, and had a blast as they continued to try out the different adventures that camp has to offer. After dinner, the girls got to meet their buddy bunks! In Unit D, the girls are paired with campers in Unit A to act as their camp “big sisters!” This was so exciting, because this is the first year they are the big sisters in camp. Each pair of bunks played get-to-know-you games and had the chance to make friends with each other. Then, they all headed to Terrace Theater and sat together to watch “Theatre Sportz!”
“Theatre Sportz” was our main evening activity last night, and it had the entire camp cracking up. It’s an improv game show, led by the Drama department, and it had a lot of camper involvement as well! We watched as staff members acted totally goofy, poked fun at themselves, and had a great time.
Today, we signed up for new workshops and choice activities for next week. This is always an exciting time, because the campers have the freedom to decide their own schedule! This afternoon, the girls had the opportunity to audition for Jewish Chicks Rock. This is a great program at camp that forms and trains four camper rock bands for a performance in front of all of camp! It’s always a hit.
This evening, Camp Louise is going to Camp Airy for our first dance of the summer! Everyone is very excited to see their friends in Thurmont, and get to know new friends as well. Intercamp activities are always a great chance to make new friends. Everyone is currently practicing their best dance moves!
With all these exciting activities, it’s hard to believe that we’re less than a week into camp! Soon, the girls will get to have a bit of a rest on Shabbat, but until then, they love trying out everything that camp has to offer.
