I am very sad to report that my Great Aunt Ann passed away yesterday morning at the age of 92.
Ann was a lovely, lovely person. She was sweet, thoughtful, supportive and endlessly self-deprecating. She loved the girls and though she never met N, she would have adored him.
Some things about Ann:
- She was a horticulturalist. She gave me two of the plants that are in my bathroom. They were housewarming gifts when we moved into this house in 2003. I've kept them alive for 12 years and will keep doing it as long as I can. Ann loved her roses, her little garden on her balcony, and plants of all kinds.
- She gave M Baby. M was maybe 1.5 at the time, and Ann gave M peach Baby and A purple Baby. M loves Baby more than any other possession in the world. Tonight, M is sleeping with Baby, like always, and A brought purple Baby down from the attic.
- She loved reading the P&B&B&B blog. When she was more active, she used to leave me comments on the blog all the time. I will treasure those comments forever.
- She loved her grandchildren Matt and Allison very, very much, and her daughter Jan and son-in-law Mike as well. She also loved Grandma Sandy very much.
We will miss Ann very much. We are going to Seattle next month and we were going to try to drive down to Portland to see her. I wish it had been able to work out.
Gayle — beautiful tribute to a lovely lady. Aunt Ann stayed in our guestroom for a few nights many years ago– can’t remember why now; maybe your Bat Mitzvah? Nice that you and your children have such sweet memories.
