Today was the spelling bee at the girls' school. They did great. They both made it to round 4, when they were sadly both eliminated. Here are the words they both got:

M: add, award, joust, nigh

A: July, saying, moviegoer, affluent

They were disappointed by their finish, but most of their friends got out in the same round that they did, and they were on stage for over an hour. The end of the bee was very exciting. The final three were going around and around without a winner because to win, you have to spell two words right in a row, which didn't happen for any of them while I was there. Finally they dismissed the audience (grades 3-5) and the final two did a head-to-head competition in the principal's office. According to the girls, a fifth grade girl won, beating the girls' two friends Max and Christopher.

We are working our way through book reports and are all exhausted tonight.
