The remainder of our time in Vis was fun and relaxing. We spent a little time at the beach, but the beaches are rocky so we didn't hang out and laze around. We hired a boat for a ride around the southern part of Vis, which was really, really fun. Everyone swam, jumping off the boats at various nooks and inlets. I tweaked my back on the second day in Vis so I didn't swim because I didn't want to get in and out of the boat or do something weird in the water. But everyone loved the water. We had some nice meals with the Blancs but also had some good family time too. That was definitely the most relaxing part of the vacation (though none of the trip has felt terribly harried – we don't usually get out the door before 11AM).
Yesterday we took a ferry from Vis to Split and then a driver to Dubrovnik. This is a magical city. Everywhere you look, the views are incredible. It's so old, yet modern and filled with life and restaurants and people. It's very crowded and very hot. Our Airbnb is lovely – way up the hill. Modern and air conditioned and comfortable. The husband of the family who rents out the apartment took us on a walking tour of the Old City last night, which was great. We learned a lot and also got off the main roads a bit.
Today we are going to walk the walls of the Old City and see a few museums, do some souvenir shopping, and hopefully have dinner someplace good. All the restaurants are booked and we were lucky to get a table last night at a delicious restaurant. We've been eating very well – fish, cuttlefish risotto, pasta, calamari, steak. Everything is so good.
It's very hot today.
Here are some pics from the last few days. They are a bit jumbled – a mix of Vis and Dubrovnik.
