Grandma Gussie

First, I have to start off with some sad news. My grandmother, Gussie Schrut, passed away on Saturday night. She was in her mid-90s. I have very sweet memories of my grandmother, who was possibly the kindest person I have ever met. She never had an ill word to say about anyone, and she was sweet and supportive and positive. The last five years or so weren't easy ones for her, with a lot of pain and some forgetfulness, but she remained sunny and loving. We will miss her a lot. Grandma Sandy is heading to Detroit tomorrow for the funeral, but unfortunately due to travel and Daddy being out of town, I am not going to go.

Grandma Sandy and I took the girls to visit Grandma Gussie in 2007, when the girls were 3 1/2. Here are some pics from that trip:

Grandma will be very missed.

In other news, the girls danced SEVEN performances of Cinderella this weekend! They did a wonderful job. They did all of the shows and were basically at the Kennedy Center all weekend. People who came to see it:

Mommy and Daddy – 5 times combined

Grampy and Nana – Friday night

Grandma Sandy – Wednesday and Sunday nights

Imogene – Saturday night

Mrs. Yedwab – Thursday night

Ms. Paul – Saturday night

Various friends: Hannah Bocian, Olivia O'Donnell

Lots of enthusiastic spectators

We are all exhausted. Glad it's over in some ways, and sad in others. The girls got the sweetest notes from Emily Ellis tonight, who is just lovely.

N had a jam-packed weekend. He went running with me yesterday in our jog stroller, and killed time with me at Whole Foods nad Trader Joe's today while the girls were performing. We had lots of exploring time at home as well. He also had a great babysitter the last two nights – Greer, from my office. She said that he was a doll!
