Athletic Saturday

Today was a very active day for the girls. After a night of not a lot of sleep, thanks to Emily sleeping over, they headed to an 85-minute ballet class. Then, we had a dilemma – they had Alice rehearsal, which we didn't realize, as well as their friend Lily's "Bootcamp Birthday Party" at a nearby gym. We made an executive decision and let the girls miss rehearsal to go to the party. We are allowed one missed rehearsal over the course of the rehearsals, and looking at the calendar, we should be able to make all of them. The girls were concerned about the decision and said things like, "the responsible thing to do is to go to rehearsal" and "being on stage at the Kennedy Center is more important than a birthday party". While we agree with both of those statements, we were comfortable with the decision to go to the party instead. I emailed the head of the ballet students and she didn't seem upset about it. And others have missed rehearsal already. So that was that.

After the party, the girls came home and hung out here for a while. I gave them a bath and we read about 25 pages of our book club book (Mr. Popper's Penguins), so we only have about 15 pages left to read. We should be able to get that done by tomorrow at 3.

Tonight, Grandma Sandy, Aunt Tequila and Stu came over to babysit and Daddy and I went to a movie. Apparently they did a lot MORE physical stuff while we were gone – jump-roping, ballet, etc. They must be so exhausted. i hope they sleep in tomorrow morning! They will be missing Sunday School because of rehearsal, unfortunately. (So the hierarchy appears to be OCCASIONAL BIRTHDAY PARTY > REHEARSAL > SUNDAY SCHOOL. What can I say? We are social and relatively areligious people.

Thanks to Grandma Sandy and Aunt Tequila and Stu for letting us get out and knock and other Oscar movie off our list – Albert Nobbs.

It's cold and windy and a little bit snowy here but I don't think it will accumulate, unfortunately.
