Today was an exhausting but exhilarating day. In the morning, the girls' classrooms were transformed into American Indian museums. A's class researched the Seminole tribe, and they had different stations where they displayed necklaces, dolls, crafts, and homes that the Seminoles used and lived in. M's class did a reading about the Tlingit (pronounced "Klingit" tribe), and then displayed Klingit crafts and art around the room. I have pics and video that I will upload and link to later.
Then this afternoon, the girls had their first onstage rehearsal at THEARC theater in Anacostia. It was short, but fun to dance among the sets.
We raced back from the rehearsal so that the girls could have a quick dinner. Then it was off to A's Notebusters concert at Deal Middle School. It was a great show! Here's what they sang:
Carry On My Wayward Son
Drift Away
Come Sail Away
Play That Funky Music
Dream On
Don't Stop Believin'
We Will Rock You
Blinded By the Light
Working for the Weekend
Good Times
Firework
A had a big fan base: Imogene, Grandma Sandy, M, me and Daddy, and Amy and Shelby. We knew lots of other parents there and were happily surprised to see Amy and Enrico (Virginia was there representing Janney).
Tonight I made A a CD of all of the Notebusters songs. We can listen to it tomorrow en route to PA for Thanksgiving!
Tomorrow the girls have school and I am making an apple pie with Grandma Sandy. Then I will drop off Lucky, pack, and get us ready to get on the road. Looking forward to some restful days.
Very proud of the girls.
