Parent-Teacher Conferences

We had parent-teacher conferences today. They went well! Here is what we learned:

A's teacher said that she is doing very well with her reading. She has made great strides this year and is now reading at a third-grade level. She is also now in the advanced math class and got 100% on her last math test review. "Math is her thing," said her teacher. We got to read some of her stories, which are so creative and interesting. "Writing is her thing," said her teacher. (I'm serious!). Her teacher said that A is very well-liked. She was out two days last week because she was sick, and when she got back. her teacher said that her friends were acting like she had been away for a month, they were so excited to see her.

M's reading is off the charts. She's reading now around a sixth grade level. Her math is also very strong and she is in the advanced math class. Her teacher says that she is such a delight to have in class and that she is a great student. Socially, she is branching off and getting to be a bit more chatty with other kids. There was one time recently when she wasn't really paying attention, but that's about the only negative thing her teacher had to say.

Such good students. We are very proud of them.

Meanwhile, they had a good day at home. Jessie came over and A played a lot with her, while M did some other things. They did all three have a tea party together. The girls also had early piano lessons from Grandma Sandy. And they also had a cloudy, almost-rainy day of tennis.

We started our book club book tonight – Besty-Tacy. It is 110 pages and we read the first 15. Daddy is reading Ozma of Oz to the girls.

I took photos at the dance recital, but they didn't come out very well. Grandma Sandy took some great pictures, though. Here are a bunch of them.

A says:

How very proud mom and dad must be to have such near-perfect daughters. They are beautiful in the photos, and they certainly do extremely well in school. I’m very proud of them.
