American Idol and Chicken Pox

I haven't posted for a few days. It has been an overwhelming week in terms of work, and I've been wiped out at night and both nights fell asleep before posting. Tonight I have vowed to get a post up! So here it is.

Last night I got home from work to the sight of the girls COVERED in red dots. Chicken pox? No. But they wanted me to laugh because they had made themselves LOOK like they had chicken pox. It was funny, I have to admit, but my first reaction was – um, you've already had a bath, how are you going to get these dots off before school tomorrow? Because you can't go like THAT!

Then we realized that the dots were starting to come off on the chair, on the toilet (yes, these dots were ALL over their bodies), so the girls, on their own, decided to wash them off. Half a roll of paper towel later, the dots were gone. A had made a face on her belly button that was sooo cute, and that didn't come off as easily. Here are some "Before" pics:

American Idol started its live/voting shows this week. Every night after it airs, the girls and I go online and vote for our favorite contestant. First, we vote for every contestant. (Explaining to the girls the concept of "cancelling the votes out" doesn't work.) Then we each vote for our favorite, and THEN we do a "family vote" for one more singer. This process takes about 15 minutes. Tonight we will find out who stays and who goes.

A is working on compound words for homework. Last night, she asked for help, so I kept suggesting words for her to write down (playground, snowplow). And each time, she'd nod, look down, and write one of her own instead. She came up with some great ones! Sunday, pancake, cookbook, rainbow, and backpack.

M wrote a good story for homework too (she had to use "first" "next" "last"):

First me and Alexa were makeing red dots on ourselfs to make them look like chiken pocks. Next we had the idea to trick my mom to make think we had real chicken pocks on. Last my mom came and I forgot to act like I had real chiken pocks but my mom noticed so she made us wash it off before I go to school or people will think I am crazy.

It was Imogene's birthday this week, and we got her a cake:
