Catching Up

It has been a few days since I posted. I've been under the weather and a bit too tired to post at night, so I have a lot to catch up on. Wednesday was the night of Rosh Hashanah. I was feeling too sick to go to services, so Daddy went with Laurie and Chris. Yesterday, though, we took the girls to morning family services, and then took them to school. Daddy took them in the afternoon to the Tashlich service in Rock Creek Park, where they threw bread into the creek to symbolize the casting away of sins.

M is feeling much better and went to school Wednesday to Friday.

Imogene is gone for a 4-day weekend, so the girls had a playdate after school at Jessie's house. They seem to have had a good time.

School is going well. Both girls are in a good groove in their classrooms and like their teachers. The homework so far has been very easy. M's reading and writing is incredible, and A's is also coming along nicely. So, three weeks in, we are very happy with first grade!

Now to the kitchen. It is basically done, but there are still a number of things to be done. The ceiling and walls have been primed but need to be painted. The new windows are in in the front of the house, but there is a very large window still to be installed in the back. We need to pick out knobs and pulls, and we need some stools for the breakfast bar. There is some trim still to be painted, and the outlet covers need to be installed. Some cabinets still need drawer doors because the ones that came with it won't clear the radiator. So we're about 85% there.

Here are a bunch of photos – of the kitchen, and of our weekend away with the Koppel-Pollacks and Kohn-Murphys.

I’m glad mommy is feeling better. It’s good to read that the girls are happy in their first grade classes and are doing well.
Remodeling a kitchen is a huge job, and it takes a world of patience and lots of time before it’s finally complete. It looks lovely, and I’m sure you will enjoy it all — eventually.
Love,
Aunt Ann
