Labor Day Weekend

I took a few days off from blogging over Labor Day weekend. So here's a report…

The girls had a regular day of school on Friday. My office was closed, so I got to pick the girls up, which was a treat. They were very excited, and M hugged her teacher goodbye for the weekend. They also wanted to go visit Mrs. Haigler from Kindergarten, so we went over and said hello.

Friday night, the girls had their first successful sleepover at someone else's house. They were at their friend Emily's house, who lives about a block away. I dropped them off at 5:30, and they had a great night. They watched "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam" on Disney, and had pizza, and played with American Girl dolls. According to Emily's mom, they went to bed at 10, and got up at 6:30 when Emily got up (which is very early for them).

We picked up the girls at 9:30 on Saturday morning, and they were in great moods despite being a little tired. Then it was time for their ballet class of the year. It's an hour long this year, and they wear light blue leotards. They both said it was "good", which is high praise from two girls who spent the summer saying they didn't want to go. Then, after class, Nana Andrea and Emily came to pick the girls up, and took them to the needlepoint store, where M picked out the material for the back of her newly finished kitty pillow. Emily and Andrea took the girls out to lunch at Potomac Pizza and to Frosting cupcakery – a great afternoon.

Saturday night, we all went to Wolf Trap to see "The Sound of Music". It was a bit different from the original, but the girls liked it. It was a late night – we didn't get home until 11:45.

Yesterday we left for Lansdowne resort in Leesburg with Andrea/Ken/Aidan and Laurie/Chris/Aidan/Caleb. It's about 50 minutes away. We had a beautiful weekend in terms of weather, and it was very relaxing. Yesterday we sat by the pool, and then had a lovely dinner overlooking the golf course and hills. Then we had s'mores at the fire pit. M&A went to sleep in Aidan P's room, and then the adults played games across the hall in our room. It was a very fun night.

Today, our time at Lansdowne was cut short a bit because M wasn't feeling well. When she threw up in the hallway on the way to check out, we figured that she wasn't just being mopey but was actually sick. So we had to leave a beautiful pool day behind, and drove home mid-afternoon. It was definitely the right thing to do – M is now on the couch, watching "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam" again. I am sad that we lost the chance to swim in the beautiful pool again, but such is life.

Hoping for an uneventful week this week!

You certainly had a wonderful, fun-filled weekend. I hope M feels better. It’s nice that all of you could be with so many great friends. Every moment seemed to be filled with something fun to do. All of you deserve the best.
Much love,
Aunt Ann
