In contrast to yesterday, we had a busy Sunday.
This morning, the girls woke up early at 6:30 because A had a bad dream. I came in to soothe her, then M wanted to go to the bathroom. When she got back in bed, she noticed the valentine and big bag of heart candy on her bed. She said, "What's this?" I said, "It's a special treat for Valentine's Day!" She gave me a HUGE hug and said, "Thank you SO much, Mommy! You're the best Mommy in the world!" That was the most rewarding feeling ever. What a sweetheart. Then A noticed her bag too, and she was very excited.
Thankfully, they went back to sleep for a few hours. When they woke up, they met some of their second cousins – my cousin Michael's three kids, Zac, Ben and Zoe. They stopped by for a little while, as they are here for the weekend. Then we raced out to the Wilson Pool for some swimming. The pool is lovely – bright and airy and sunny. I read while they swam, and Daddy went to the gym. Then it was home for a quick bath and lunch, and we raced downtown to go to the Kennedy Center for "Peter and the Wolf". Coincidentally, sitting right next to Alexa was their classmate John J., and sitting right in front of us was their friend Abigail. And then they saw another classmate, Hunter.
Tonight we went out for a Valentine's dinner at Lia's. It was delicious. Not our most romantic dinner ever, but babysitters were scarce tonight!
Now we're home and on the couch and about to watch some Olympics. Some late nights for the girls this weekend!! (Hence the 9:30 AM wakeup!). A just rubbed Daddy's Valentine card for me all over her face because it has glitter on it and now she has red glitter all over her.
