First of all, I've been alerted by a few people that they never received a Feedblitz email about Monday's post about the 50 minute ballet the girls put on for me. So, if you missed it – click here to read it.
Onto today.
We've had some issues with A the last few days. She got to school yesterday morning and started crying upon learning that she was Chair Helper that day – she wanted to be Line Leader. She carried on until her teacher encouraged me to leave, which was really hard, because she was crying and calling my name down the hall. Ugh. Then today, Buppie reported that A started crying in the middle of ballet and had to be taken out of the room by Imogene. Apparently, what set her off was that Miss Eve told her she wasn't doing something right. This is a pattern with A – she gets upset about not doing something perfectly or not getting what she wants, and then it escalates into a crying fit. Daddy and I each spoke to her tonight, separately, about how big girls behave, especially when they don't get exactly what they want. Hopefully it will sink in and she will pay attention to what we said, and think about her actions in the future.
Here's why I am optimistic. M&A's teacher called last night to talk to me about what had happened at school. She also spoke to the girls, which they were very excited about. But while I was talking to her, both girls were trying to get my attention at the same time. I've told them before that if I am on the phone, they need to wait until I am off before talking to me. M was especially persistent in trying to get my attention. When I hung up, A said to me, "Mommy, I remembered that I am not supposed to bother you when you are on the phone." See, I think she really does listen to what we say, and she thinks about it, and it does affect her behavior. We will see what happens.
Now onto some funny things…
M said to me tonight, as we were about to start watching "Wheel of Fortune" – "Mommy, I think the people tonight are going to be idiots." (This is because I always call the constestants idiots, especially when they buy vowels for no reason.)
M also said, while on the potty tonight, "Mommy, are my boobs getting bigger? I want to have bigger boobs – I think they are bigger than they were yesterday."
Sigh.
Oh my, M and A are growing up. You have the patience of a saint and seem to handle difficulties with the girls in just the right fashion. Keep up the great work!
Love,
Aunt Ann
