Ballet Performance

It was a snow day today, so the girls were inside almost the whole day. They came outside this morning and helped us "shovel" and get the snow off the cars. Then they got cold, and that was that for playing in the show today. They gave Imogene her gifts: a potholder, two pictures from the circus coloring book, and two little bead animals that they made. After lunch, they also ate the cake that they made her yesterday (and it's delicious!).

It is a testament to Imogene that I came home from work and the girls were in such a good mood after being inside all day. She said they were in the attic, in the basement, all over the house. They had a great time!

Then, when I got home, the girls put on a 50 minute ballet for me. It was very typical, for the following reasons:

  • A was intensely in charge of the whole ballet.  She told M when there would be solos, what to do when, etc.
  • If I did anything other than watch them intently, A chided me. I was not to talk or clap or whistle or dance. EXCEPT…
  • … when the girls wanted me to dance with them or lift them up.
  • I had Allie on my lap for part of it and A stopped several times to pet her.
  • A kept whistling at M to get her attention and tell her what to do.
  • M kept smiling at me, kissing me, grabbing my hands, and telling me that I was the luckiest person in the audience because I got to dance with her. In the middle of the ballet, she went upstairs and got Blankie and then wrapped up her Nutcracker and her sparkly slippers as a present for me.

Perfect illustration of who they are as people.
