Growing Up Is Sad

Today at school, M&A brought their tutu dresses in for Show Tell and Share. I tried to encourage them to bring different items for ST&S, but they wanted to bring the same ones. So I said OK. (Week 1, they both brought Nutcrackers. Week 2, M brought Baby and Blankie and A brought Piggy/Bunny/Cousin Bunny/Snuffy. Week 3, A brought her watch and M brought a cool book from the Air & Space Museum. Today was the tutu dresses).

A said today that she and Josh, her ADORABLE classmate, smiled at each other three times. I asked why and she said she didn't know, that they were just happy together. That started a conversation about who they will marry. M wants to marry a girl. A wants to marry a boy – but not any boy we know because I listed a lot of them, and she rejected them all. Then A said she didn't want to get married, but was worried that would mean she'd have to live alone. I told her she could live with us as long as she wants, that we'd always want her to live with us. She said, "Growing up is kind of sad, isn't it?" Awww. Then M said she wants to marry Daddy. I told them they could both live with us for as long as they wanted. But I also explained that while it is sad to grow up and move away, they might be ready for it when it happens. I said that sometimes it's nice to have your own space.

Here are some more photos from the auto show that Buppie took on Sunday.

The auto show photos are adorable. It’s so interesting to read about M and A talking about getting married or not. It’s comforting for them to know that they can always stay with mom and dad.
