Girls had a very active Saturday. First they went to their first gymnastics class in a long time. We rejoined the program and signed up for Saturday mornings. They are now in the 4-5 year old class and are doing more advanced stuff – some floor work, a zipline, uneven bars, etc. The class was smaller and I think they got more activity in today than they used to last year. After gymnastics we met a friend and her two daughters for ice skating in Alexandria. Daddy and I had not been on skates in many (25+?) years, so it was the blind leading the blind today. A started out doing pretty well, but then she got frustrated that she couldn't skate by herself, and saw some other little girls skating better than she did, and she got very frustrated and upset. Tears ensued. She ended up watching from the bleachers for the last 25 minutes or so. Lots of drama. M had an amazing attitude and did a great job today, despite having no idea what she was doing. She fell a lot (including once, hard, on her tushie), but she always got up again and had a smile on her face (except after the hard fall, when she was crying).
We had lunch afterwards at our friend's house – she has two girls ages 4 1/2 and 7. They all played very nicely together, and decorated some Valentine's Day cupcakes. Then we came home and hung out, and Emily came over to babysit so we could see a movie. She reported that the girls were very, very tired tonight – more sleepy than she had ever seen them. Sounds like it was an easy night here at home. It was cute – the girls were excited when they heard that Emily was babysitting – M said, "Oh good. We can play hide and seek with her!"
Here is a photo of M skating with the 7-year old friend, Anna, today.
The girls certainly had an active day. Ice skating is such fun for everyone (once you learn how). M and A will love it more next time.
Thanks for the cute photo.
Love,
Aunt Ann
