Weekend Report

We had a very busy weekend with the girls. Yesterady, I took them on a bunch of errands which turned out to be pretty fun (in their opinion) – buying a birthday present at the toy store, buying a LOT of candy at the drugstore for a friend of mine who is having surgery this week, going to the carwash, and picking up some meds for Allie at the vet. Then we had dinner at an excellent Japanese restaurant with some friends and their one year-old. The girls were so tired when we got home that we skipped bath and aimed for an "early" bedtime (9:30!).

Today, we had a birthday party at a gym, then stopped at the playground, then had a playdate with one of M&A's classmates, and then went to dinner at "the pizza place." Long day.

Couple of funny things:

  • Last night, I wrapped a birthday present and then used the last of some pre-printed birthday gift labels. I needed to throw away the page, but the girls have appropriated the trash can from my den, so I went in their room and threw it away. This morning, M came downstairs, and without even saying "good morning," she just looked at me and held up the empty sheet. "What is this? Why is it in my trash? Did you put it there?", she asked me very solemnly. It was very funny. I explained to her that I had thrown it away in her room because she has my trash can, and she seemed satisfied.
  • Today, A said to me, "I know how to spell CVS". I said, "How?" She said, "D-V-D."

The girls were really looking out for each other today. A was hanging back at the birthday party, and M coaxed her to join the group and made sure she had a good time. And M was upset tonight because I very sternly asked her if she had broken the DVD player on the computer while she was spinning in Daddy's chair. (She had. Grrr.) A came to tell us that M was upset, and they hugged each other many times before going to bed. Very sweet.

Tomorrow morning is the Inaugural Breakfast Ball at the girls' class. They are VERY excited. Apparently they have been practicing a song that is supposed to be a secret surprise. I think that this may be the first secret they have kept from us. (At least I hope it is).

This is a great blog. The descriptions are so vivid that I almost feel I was there. M and A are so precious, and so very clever. Keep up the great work, Mommy and Daddy.
Love,
Aunt Ann
