We had a little drama tonight. I was in the girls’ room picking out a book, and they were in my bed getting under my covers to hide from me when I came back in the room. M hit her mouth on A’s head, and when I came in she was crying very hard. I got her to pull her hands off her mouth and saw blood. She bit her lip and also, I realized, had a ring of blood along the gum over her front right tooth. I pressed it gently and sure enough, it moved. Ugh. I got her cleaned up and immediately paged the dentist. She called back very quickly and said to leave it alone, start a soft diet, and, if it gets looser, come in for an x-ray. She was pretty reassuring. I was having terrible visions of M with only one front tooth for like a year-and-a-half. That would be very sad.
Once I got M calmed down, we read a book that was too old for them, but still cute – The Princess and the Pizza. I liked the message – princess invents pizza, disses the prince she’s supposed to marry, and opens a pizza place instead. As I always tell the girls about most fictional princesses: "A princess is a woman of low ambition."
Before the tooth crisis, the girls tried on their flower girl dresses for Darrah’s wedding. Here are some photos:
Here also is a photo from yesterday morning of M holding Baby (who has been adorned with barrettes and ponytail holders of late) and Gingie. Note the new striped socks.
Holy cow! I am so sorry to hear about all the drama after we talked! My teeth are aching just thinking about it. I hope Maddie will be just fine. The girls look adorable in their dresses. I couldn’t be more excited!
I hope M’s tooth re-attaches. Richard fell and knocked out a front tooth when he was five, and it took a couple of years before he got his adult teeth. He looked cute anyway. Good luck to M. The photos of the girls are adorable. Thanks for sharing them.
Love,
Aunt Ann
