Let Them Eat Cake

Today is Daddy’s birthday. (Happy Birthday Daddy!) Mommy celebrated by heading out of town to a women blogger conference in Chicago. (Sorry Daddy!).

So last night M & A and I made a cake for Daddy, which they can eat tonight after dinner. Some cute things:

1) Daddy’s back is hurting, so he can’t pick the girls up as much. I told M that Daddy couldn’t pick her up, and she said, "You know what will make Daddy’s back feel a lot better? The cake."

2) M & A woke up very early this morning for no apparent reason. The first thing A said to me was, "Is the cake still downstairs?" I assured her that yes, it hadn’t moved since last night.

3) M told me this morning that they would save a piece of cake for me since I will be missing dinner tonight, and I can eat it when I get back from my trip. Awww….

4) M relayed the following story to Daddy when he got home last night – "Daddy, guess how many candles are on the cake! There are 5!! Mommy asked us how many candles should go on the cake, and I said 5, and Mommy said ‘OK!’ So there are 5 candles on the cake!"

Hopefully Daddy will take a photo of the cake tonight so that I can put it on here. It’s vanilla with chocolate frosting, orange lettering (for M), and purple polka dots (for A).

Happy Birthday Daddy!
