I wrote the following post yesterday (Saturday), and tonight (Sunday) I discovered that it never posted. So it will be my Sunday post even though it is about Saturday. As far as Sunday the big news is that N had a great game – he hit the game winning RBI in game 1 and had a great catch at third base. Aside from him crying over being called out at first base, it was a good game for N. And we had a nice evening here with Greg Goldberg and his daughter Esther, who are in town to look at colleges. We sat outside and had pizza and s'mores.
OK, here is Saturday's post:
Lots to report.
Yesterday, N had a new friend over: Eddy, who he's seen in his class on his computer via Zoom but never met in person. Eddy and the wingman, Nathan, came over yesterday after school. It seemed to go well. We heard laughing and jumping and a little baseball app watching. I'm just glad he met someone new.
Today, Grampy and I ran the Army 10-Miler. It was a virtual race, which meant that we downloaded an app that tracked us as we ran a 10-mile run on the Capital Crescent Trail. We ran 5 miles out, uphill, and 5 miles back, downhill. Yes, he is 79 and ran 10 miles today! Great work Grampy. No porta potty lines, no Army 11th-mile to get back to the start, no parking in the dark. We had breakfast after in Georgetown. M made us a sign:
M&A each had a driving lesson today – M's third and last, and A's second. M went on the Beltway.
M's friend group went to Butler's today and I drove and brought N. We did all the usual Butler's things, with some covid-adjustments. No hayride to the pumpkin patch (we drove), much shorter lines. As N pointed out, the troughs that used to have the water-gun-duck game have been turned into hand sanitizer stations. So very 2020.
A is out at a party and M is at a friend's and we are home watching the ALCS. Go Rays!
Had to take a pic of the impatiens I planted in May. Look how HUGE they are now! We may have frost overnight so their days are numbered. I just can't believe how big and robust they got.
