Whew. I haven't posted in a while because I have been doing very little other than packing late into the night. When I get in bed I am too tired to post! But I want to catch up on things quickly.
We are moving in less than a week! Next Friday. The house is probably 75-80% ready, but not 100%. Still a lot to do this week. And the other house is getting close too. Painters will finish the main painting tomorrow and then do touchups on Tuesday. Cleaners come Wednesday. Still some carpentry and ceiling light installation to do too.
Here's what everyone was up to this weekend.
M had an intense night on Friday. It was the 9th grade lock-in. We dropped her at 8PM and picked her up at 7AM the next day, and she pulled her first true all-nighter. It sounds like a lot of fun. She had a good time and was very ebullient on the ride home (which she shared with Addie). Then she got home, went upstairs and fell asleep for 8 straight hours. Today she had a soccer game – they won 1-0 and she played goalie for the second half. Yay M! M is excited for soccer to be done (GDS) and isn't sure she'll do travel next year. She's looking forward to winter sports where she is doing rock climbing.
A had Sidwell Homecoming this weekend. She went to the football game on Saturday afternoon and then to the dance on Saturday night. She wore a Brown t-shirt – long story, freshmen had to wear brown – and she took as her date a boy from M's class (as a friend). She also performed in a cross-country pep rally which she helped choreograph on Friday afternoon. Today she had a 2-hour chorus rehearsal in preparation for a concert this Wednesday at the Cathedral. There were hundreds of kids at the rehearsal, as the concert is drawing from a lot of schools.
N had a (hopefully) fun weekend. He played soccer on Saturday – they lost but he played really well – and then Saturday afternoon, to make up for him having to spend so much time at home while we pack up the house, I took him to see "Smallfoot", which he really liked. He even tolerated going to Old Navy afterwards to buy him some warmer jackets. Today he had his first day of Sunday School and seemed to like his teacher a lot. Then we came home and he watched Brain Pop videos for while, which he loves, and went to the house with Daddy and me. He wanted to see the secret stairs (pulldown from the attic) and created a baseball game in the house in which the Nats won 45-20 (apparently the pitching was pretty bad that game). Then he came home and did this adorable thing: he first made an art project where he created a design using colors and stripes. Then he set up all of his stuffed animals on the floor and held an art class, where he taught them how to replicate the design. Each student made his/her own (this was a lot of work for N). No one was absent that day so they all participated (though Lion didn't do a great job). Here are some pics:
So that is a brief rundown of what is going on here. T minus 5 days!
