A the Journalist

We got a newsletter today from A's first grade class. This time, the kids wrote all of the articles. Here is the one that A wrote:

Learning About Mexican Aztecs
By Alexa F and Agnes B
Mrs. Baldwin’s class studied the Aztecs in school. They studied the Aztecs during May. They studied the Aztecs, because the teachers thought that children should learn about ancient cultures. We learned that an Aztec priest told the tribe to build a city where they saw a sign. The sign was an eagle eating a snake while sitting on a cactus. We also learned that the Aztec built floating gardens on water called
chinampas. Mrs. Baldwin’s class had a fun time making the gardens, canoes and the people working in them, out of paper.

In other current events, we watched some of the Scripps Spelling Bee last night, but it ended long after the girls went to sleep. They were very interested, when they woke up today, to hear who won and which word was the winning word. They were amazed that some of the finalists were barely older than they are!

Today is Field Day – lots of fun and very little schoolwork.
