Tomorrow is the girls’ first field trip. We’re going to a matzoh factory. It’s a Lubovitcher (sp?) factory – I hope they don’t try to convert us.
We’ve been talking about the field trip a lot. When I asked them tonight if they remembered where we were going tomorrow, they said: "The circus?" "Detroit?" "Florida?" "Are we going on an airplane?" Finally, I said, "No, come on, you remember…" and A said, "The matzoh party???"
We also talked about states today, because I bought a game about the United States for them from National Geographic. We talked about Maryland (they needed to find a state that starts with M) and I told them that the matzoh factory is in Maryland, as is Trader Joe’s, Lily’s house and Miss Rema’s class. I told them that tomorrow, en route to the factory, I will tell them when we have crossed into Maryland. I don’t think they have any idea I was talking about.
The girls probably knew exactly what you were talking about and were laughing with each other about how you thought you had to explain simple geography! From reading your blog I have decided that they are two smart cookies, so don’t underestimate them!
