We are back from Colorado! We got home on Wednesday night. I just haven't been able to post until now. The trip was a lot of fun.
Here's what was good:
- Getting to spend a lot of time with Greg and Vikki and their daughters Sophie and Esther. It was great seeing the girls all hang out together – Sophie is a few years older and A, especially, really looked up to her. They had a lot of fun giggling and playing and just being together.
- The mountains and the snow! The girls enjoyed sledding (A more than M), snow angels, and just being in the snow.
- Swimming at the indoor pool.
-
Just being with the girls so much.
Here's what wasn't so good:
- A throwing up outside the ski school on the first day.
- The fact that even though they had fun on their first day of ski school, they didn't want to go back.
Rather than do a boring travelogue of our trip, here are some of my favorite memories.
1. M said to me while we were in the pool, "It's no fun to be a mommy. You have to go to appointments and meeting and boring stuff and blah blah blah."
2. We gave the girls watches for Hanukah. They have had a lot of fun "telling time". One particularly funny moment came when A was telling Greg and Vikki the time every minute while they were trying to put their girls to sleep. They were good sports about it. Of course, A had to ask me the time every minute so she knew what to tell them.
3. The sleeping arrangements varied every night. First all four girls slept on the floor in Sophie and Esther's room, in sleeping bags. The next night, A said that M was hitting her during the night (she wasn't) and she slept with us. The next night, M ended up in our bed too. Finally, the last two nights, M & A shared the bottom level of Sophie and Esther's trundle bed. That was the cutest thing – both of them cuddled up in a twin bed.
4. The first night in the hotel, M woke up very early and sang very loud, "I love Baby and Blankie!!" We said, "That's great M, but could you go back to sleep?" And she did! The girls thought it was funny to sing it over and over again the whole trip, Esther and Sophie included.
5. M asked if you had to go to jail if you said "shit".
6. We were upgraded to business class on the way out. We told the girls that we were all very lucky because we got to sit in nice big seats. As the people filed by to get to the coach seats, A said loudly, "Those people all have to go and sit in the really little seats!"
7. Poor M was too scared to tell the ski instructor that she needed to pee. We stopped by her little group on the bunny hill, and as we were leaving, she started crying, because she had to pee. It broke my heart. She was too scared to ask if someone would take her. Awww.
We've been re-entering life here at home… unpacking, running errands, just being back in the house. Sorry for the long delay in posting!
Here is a photo I took of the mountains from my phone:
I’m glad all of you are back. Sounds like each of you had new experiences and fun. I missed you.
Love,
Aunt Ann
