We went to the butterfly garden today. It was lovely – thousands of butterflies in a large greenhouse flying all around us. Then we explored the gardens around the greenhouse, which was also a lot of fun. M took a ton of photos, and A took a few too. At the end of the post I’ve included several photos – almost all the butterfly ones were taken by M.
A couple of funny things from today:
- M was looking at a ceramic bowl we have with a picture of a chicken inside of it. She said, "Look at the chicken!" I said, "Yes, it’s cute." She said, "It’s funny, that word chicken sounds like the chicken that you eat." I said, "Yes, it’s the same as the chicken that you eat." She said, "No, I mean the chicken you COOK for dinner." I said, "Yes, M, it’s the same thing! The chicken I cook for dinner looks a lot like the chicken at the bottom of that bowl." She thought about that for a while and said, "Does the chicken like to be eaten?" I told her no.
- Lots of questions about dinosaurs on the way to the garden. If M saw a dinosaur now, would it eat her? Why do the dinosaurs look like they are so angry? Are dinosaurs sad that they are gone?
- M said today that she would like to be the Tooth Fairy. I told her that the Tooth Fairy is a good finder, just like she is.
- The girls said many times today that Daddy did not have any important meetings today because he didn’t wear a tie to work.
It was really nice to spend so much time with the girls today. I think they had fun. Here are the photos:
