First, thank you Grandma Sandy for babysitting for N tonight so Daddy and I could go to (a very camp) Wolf Trap to hear Paul Simon!
I haven't said much about Temple Sinai Adventure Camp this summer. N is loving it. Here is the update we got last week:
The first week of Summer Camp is in the books. This week the children explored engineering! They built with toothpicks and pool noodles, colorful cups on the light table and homes for dinosaurs. They created robots and designed skyscrapers. Using pvc pipes, students crafted elaborate marble runs. They enjoyed the pools on the playground and Hello Sunshine with Naomi and Alex. On Wacky Wednesday they donned their wackiest hats and made wacky kebobs! We are looking forward to learning all about reptiles next week. – Katelyn, Oscar and Oliver
And today I saw a lot more photos of the girls at Camp Louise. They were doing the ropes course. Here are a few:
We got this update tonight from camp:
I can’t believe the campers have only been here since Sunday! We’ve already done so much. On Monday, we got into the routine of camp! For the first day of activities, the morning had great weather and fun activities. Bunk 30 got to try out archery! Bunk 31 had an amazing time challenging themselves on the Ropes Course, while Bunk 32 tried their hand at some pottery. Bunk 33 stayed active playing tennis in the morning on our courts! Our four-week campers had the opportunity to try out for the musical! This session, the musical is going to be “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!” In the afternoon, we had a short rain shower, but it didn’t stop the fun! In fact, it cooled off afterwards, leading to a great evening. Our evening activity on Monday was History Night! This is a night when campers get to learn all about camp and how special it has been for so many people. We went to a song session, where we learned all sorts of classic camp songs, and then grabbed canteen and headed over to the Social Hall to learn some vintage camp games and trivia! History Night is always a great activity, for new and returning campers alike.Today, the campers got to take their bunk photos! All the bunks chose different themes or styles to dress up in, and it was so fun to see all the bunks in their outfits this morning at breakfast! After breakfast, four-week campers could choose to audition for the dance concert. Today was also the first day of workshops for Unit D! Because the girls are now in senior camp, this is the first year that they’re allowed to sign up for workshops! These activities are held over a period of a few days so the girls can complete longer and more specialized projects! It’s very exciting for the girls to start discovering the perks of being in senior camp! This evening, Unit D had Unit Night!! Unit Night is a time where all the girls in Unit D get together to play games and get to know each other. Since our theme is Nickelo”D”on, our theme this evening was “Nick@Nite”! First, we got our hands dirty and made our own version of the famous “green slime” from Nickelodeon! It was a blast, and each girl got to keep some to play with later. Then, we played a few other Nick themed games. We all had a great time, and the girls got to know campers outside their bunks!
