I'm back! I missed a few days of posting, due to being too tired to post late at night. Last night saw a few late nights of building furniture, and then one night being exhausted from getting up too early after building furniture… and the next thing we know 4 days have gone by since I have posted! Not sure the last time – if ever – that happened. Crazy week.
So, here's what's been going on here.
The girls finished Summer Intensive. They had a great show yesterday with 4 parts – ballet, character, musical theater and jazz. The first was danced to a piece from Swan Lake and was very classical. The second was from Copelia and was also classical but a little more fun. The musical theater piece was "One" from A Chorus Line, and the jazz dance was set to "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift. It was great to see all that they have been working on the last four weeks. Clearly they worked very hard, and it showed. Plus they got to wear their character shoes, jazz pants, character skirt and some props (hats).
It was really fun to watch. N and Imogene and Grandma Sandy came to see it and N was SO well-behaved. I think he really enjoyed watching it.
The girls also got their ballet evaluations from Level 3 today. Both girls got very good evaluations. A has decided that she doesn't want to pursue ballet anymore. She's going to try some other activities next year. It's a big decision but one that she has been coming to for a long time.
N also had his last day of camp yesterday. We asked if he wanted to go for one more session but he said he wanted to stay home with Imogene instead. That makes life less complicated for us for the next two weeks, but we wanted him to be able to go if he wanted. Not sure he understood the decision he was making but we will see when Monday rolls around.
Other fun things – we went swimming at the Bethesda pool after the show yesterday. It was overcast and not that hot but the people who went in (everyone other than me) had fun! The girls spent an entire hour ignoring Luca and Robin.
And today we went to see Once, the musical, which was Grandma Sandy's gift to Daddy for his birthday. We liked it a lot! It was a little grown-up for the girls, but they enjoyed the songs and some of the funny lines. Thanks for a great present (which included babysitting)!
Lucky's back is improving. He's able to sleep upstairs now, which means more sleep for me.
Here are some pics from the performance. I will upload videos tomorrow.
