Class Lists

Imogene didn't make it back from Jamaica today, so it was another scramble. The girls went back to Natalie's this morning, and then to Grandma Sandy's in the afternoon. Thank god for backups! I am really hoping Imogene returned today – last I spoke to her she was trying to get back. It would be very hard to have another day without her. And then on Friday we are going – I HOPE – to Dutch Wonderland.

The BIG NEWS of today is that the girls got their class assignments!

A got a GREAT teacher and is in class with a bunch of her good friends – Paloma, Jessie and Abigail. She is thrilled. We are very happy about the teacher and are really glad that she will be with friends. We are a little worried about her being too social, but hopefully she will resist temptation. She is also with Aidan Murphy, who left her the MOST ADORABLE voicemail tonight to "talk about school". Oh my god – must download it somehow and get it on the blog. (No idea how to do that.)

M, on the other hand, has NO good friends in her class and is with a new teacher that we know nothing about. She is not happy. She has been crying off and on about it today. There are a few girls she knows in the class, and two boys from last year. We went through the list tonight and tried to figure out who everyone is, and there are a few people she is sort of excited about. We also called a fourth grader on our street who had M's new teacher as a teacher's aide last year, and he had good things to say about her. So, we are hopeful that this time next week, M will be very happy.

It didn't help that A got a cute postcard in the mail today from her new teacher. M didn't get a postcard. Eesh.

Nothing to report on the kitchen. Still waiting for the counter and windows. Irritating (understatement), especially because much of the delay is due to a miscommunication with our contractor.

Daddy is doing fine on his trip – I have heard from him a few times. Here is a picture of him in a helicopter, coming back from Kandahar. Frank sent it to Peyton, who sent it to me:

It’s hard to believe that summer vacation is nearly over and the girls will start school next week. I wish them both lots of good luck. I feel certain that M will love her class and her new teacher. A looks cute, just like M, with a front tooth missing. Both are so adorable.
Love,
Aunt Ann
