Cousin Baby

Tonight, we were talking about Imogene’s son Tyler, who is off at college. M said, "I am excited to go to college, so that I can learn a lot of things." But then the girls remembered that Tyler does not live at home anymore and that he’s usually away at school. A asked me whether you sleep somewhere else when you go to college. I said yes, usually you go and live somewhere else. All of a sudden both girls got very sad. Both of them said they didn’t want to go to college because they didn’t want to sleep somewhere other than our house. M actually started hugging me and crying and saying she didn’t want to go to college. I told them first that they might feel differently when they are older, and second, that they could live at home and go to school. (This is what I am rooting for). They felt a little better but clearly they don’t like the thought of living away from us.

We were talking about Cousin Bunny tonight, the backup Bunny that I had on hand for when P&B got left behind last weekend. M thought about it for a while, and then said, "Do you have a Cousin Baby?" She’s very smart. Yes, I do have a backup Baby on hand in case Baby ever gets lost. Unfortunately, Cousin Baby is much larger than Baby – she looks like a freak version of Baby. I decided that it was OK to show it to M. So I did – and she thought it was very, very funny.

Here are some photos of Baby/Cousin Baby and Bunny/Cousin Bunny.

How clever of M to think of “Cousin Baby”. I was so amused to read about the girls reaction to “sleep away college”. Your daughters are so adorable and so very smart.
Love,
Aunt Ann
