Last Tuesday, I had to go to the DC Auto Show for work, and I had to leave the house a little early. I told the girls where I was going, and they said it sounded like fun and that they wanted to go. So today, Buppie and I took the girls to the DC Auto Show. I showed them some of the cars I liked, as well as the Chevy Volt (which M knows can go up to 40 miles on a single charge without using a drop of gas – thanks Wheel of Fortune ads!). A does not like when I say I like another car because she wants me to like my car the best. I told her that I liked my car, and that I enjoy driving the girls in it, but that I wouldn't turn down a Saab 9-3 or an Acura TSX. We didn't make it to BMW, which is a good thing, because I would have been figuring out how to finance a 3-series in my head. (Don't worry – not going to happen.)
M liked the show; A thought it was pretty boring until we went to the Toyota stand, where there were ballroom dancers and a robot, chicken and bear also dancing. A gets a little stalker-ish with dressed-up characters, and today was no exception – she followed that chicken (named, appropriately, "Nugget") all over the dance floor and totally monopolized it. I think the chicken was trying to get away from her a few times. Unfortunately, "The Chicken Dance" has been in my head, and Buppie's, ever since.
After the auto show, we came home and Daddy tried unsuccessfully to get the girls to make progress on our long list of Valentines. M made 3 and A made 2, and then they lost their focus.
Tonight, M wanted to wear a particular pair of pajamas, but I had washed them and they were in the hamper waiting to be folded. M looked through the hamper but she could only find the tops. Then A looked through and found the bottoms. M was so happy, and she sang over and over, "A is the best! A is the best person in the world!" and hugged her and kissed her until even A got sick of it. I was happy because A is sometimes sad that she isn't "the good finder". Tonight, she was.
Here are some photos from the auto show and of the girls making Valentines. TMGers will appreciate the revolving Volt in the photo of me and the girls. And I can safely say that in all of the many hours I have spent at various auto shows, this was by FAR the most amount of time I ever spent looking at the trucks. Note: the only reason I have the dorky nametag on is that it got me out of paying admission!
The photos of you and the girls are lovely — so are the cars. M and A look so happy making Valentines. Thanks for sharing he pictures.
Love,
Aunt Ann
