M was awarded her two awards at GDS this am – the Modern Language award and the Director's Award. For the latter, Russell did a very, very long speech about M and all the ways she exemplifies the ideals of GDS. He talked about her social justice work, her leadership, her intelligence, her kindness, her humility, her curiosity, her fearlessness. It was just an amazing moment, and so great to have someone so completely notice and understand your kid. The best was… rather than do the whole speech and then say who won the award, he announced off the bat that M was the winner and then had her stand up in front of the forum while he said all those things. So great. We are so proud of her!
We're working on getting a video. I don't have one because I was FaceTiming so Dad and Alexa could watch it live. I don't even have any pics. But what a great morning!
Dad is feeling a little better today. Hoping for negative tomorrow!
