Today, the girls did their homework in the basement at the desks that we set up over the summer. Very exciting! I will take a photo of the desks tomorrow. They put push pins in their bulletin boards and are making the space their own. That was the point! I remember designing the built-ins in the basement when we had it redone 5 years ago (!) and thinking "someday the girls will do homework here". That someday is here.

Meanwhile, N is learning more words. I got one "mama" tonight out of him. Lots of "nana's", to Imogene's delight. And in addition to "cracker", "cookie" and "dog (ga)", he is now also saying "duckie".

What are the odds of this happening: before bath, I took off N diaper, only to discover a poop. Of course by then he had no diaper on and I didn't have wipes next to me (I was expecting to put him in the bath). He then proceeded to walk into his bedroom, and before I could wipe him, he put the bathtub stopper AND the cups I use to wash his hair on his little blue chair, and sat on them. I have never seen him do anything like that before, and of course he did it when he had a poopy tush. Fun. So then I had to get him cleaned, into the tub, and free of the gross stopper and cups (which were in his hand). Meanwhile I also needed cups to wash his hair. I managed to get some tupperware from downstairs and the offensive items into the sterilizer (rinsed off, of course) in about 20 seconds, but it was a little stressful there for a moment.

Tomorrow is back to school night!
