Eventful Friday

Today I got a call from Imogene at 3:30 saying that there was a lot of commotion around the school – police cars, fire trucks, etc. It turns out that several DC schools got letters in the mail today that contained a white powder. I learned later that the school immediately cordoned off the office, called the police and HAZMAT, and had the powder tested. The kids never knew what was going on and were never in danger. It turns out that the powder was potato starch and that 20-25 area schools received the letters.

Tomorrow the girls are going on a field trip to Mount Vernon. They have to be at school at 7:45, which is very early for them. Then they have Daisy Troop after school so it is going to be a looong day.

But then… it's their birthday! YAY! The CDs have been burned, the cases are labeled (the CD labels will be printed tomorrow), Saturday's cake has been ordered, Sunday's cupcake ingredients have been bought, the entertainment has been confirmed. Bikes are waiting to be beribboned and assorted other gifts will be wrapped tomorrow night.

Whew.

Today I asked M&A if they wished they had separate birthdays or if they liked sharing a birthday. They both said that they like sharing a birthday.

We watched American Idol tonight and one of our non-favorites was sent home. A said, "Jacob, your journey ends tonight." Hee.

Tired.

Lucky M and A will have a wonderful birthday. Mommy and Daddy have made great plans and surprises for them. I wish we all lived closer so I could see their beautiful faces when they see all the special things prepared for them. Happy birthday girls!
Love,
Aunt Ann
P.S. Cousin Alison had a birthday on May 4th. May is a good month for a birthday.
