After school today, I called home to tell the girls that I had exciting news for M and exciting news for A, but that they would find each other's news mildly exciting too. The girls got on in turn, and each one wanted to know first the other's exciting news, and then hers. I had identical conversations with both girls, but in reverse.
The exciting news for M: I won a loaf of bread every month from Panera in the TSNS auction, and today I picked up our first loaf, which was sourdough. She has been asking for sourdough lately, so she was very excited.
The exciting news for A: We're doing a Lucky Dog home visit in the neighborhood tonight. She loves coming along for those.
On a more serious note, we're trying to get to the heart of some issues for N. His speech therapist observed him in class yesterday, and she said he was shy, held back, didn't talk much, and didn't participate much on the playground or movement class. That isn't the N we know at home or with Imogene. He might have been lagging yesterday after 2 1/2 weeks out of school, but his teachers said yesterday wasn't that unusual. We are going to kick off the therapy sessions immediately, and we're getting a hearing and ENT evaluation on Friday. Hopefully we will know more then. Daddy and I are sad about our little boy, because that's not how we know him at all. (Remember the dancing video from yesterday?)
PS Update from tonight. 1) We didn't do the home visit because Daddy had to work late. We'll do it tomorrow. 2) N was looking at a picture of a hedgehog and said he was "spicy" (aka spiky). Does this sound like a kid with some sort of issue??
