Goodbye to Emily :(

More imaginative commentary from A today. I left some little treats under their pillows last night – M got a light-up magnifying glass and A got some lip gloss. A seems to have taken over the magnifying glass. She told me that it was a camera, phone and iPod all in one. I said, well, that's called an iPhone, and they really exist. So she's been telling people all day that it's her iPhone, and she pretends to play games on it and talk on it (to someone named Charlotte). Ann wanted to know how M reacts to all of this. She mostly plays along with it. She seems to know that A's not really telling the truth, but she finds it fun, and asks questions and encourages it.

The girls had their new Sunday School class today, and it went well. They learned the story of Jonah and the whale. They also sang the Rosh Hashanah song over and over – "The old year's gone, the new year's here, we will lift our hands and pray…". I like to sing, "The new year's gone, the old year's here…" to make them laugh, and it works. Today, A looked at me and said, "Mom, you're hilarious." Awww.

Grandma Sandy is back from her trip and she stopped by to see us this afternoon. The girls gave her a tour of the new kitchen.

And the sad news… Emily is off to college on Tuesday. We went over today to say goodbye to her today and we will really miss her. But she has a great adventure ahead of her and we are excited to hear all about Dartmouth and Hanover. This says it all:

Dartmouth

I’m so proud of M and A. They have such great imaginations and M is such a good sport about everything.
It’s so good to have Grandma Sandy back from her trip to Europe. All of us missed her.
Love,
Aunt Ann
