For some reason, my graduation day post got stuck in draft mode on Wednesday and never published, and then I was too tired to post last night. So here is my post from Wednesday, followed by a post about yesterday:
Graduation
The girls graduated today! It was a nice ceremony at the school. The kids all processed in to the sound of Mr. Gregal playing flute and Ms. McLaughlin playing cello. The kids all sat in the front rows and parents/family sat off to the sides and in the back. Dr B. did the welcome, then the teachers from 5th grade plus the Peace teachers each stood up and gave advice to the kids. A few kids read poems they had written about their time at Lafayette, including Annelise, Ellen and Maddie (together). Then there was a long slideshow – sadly, they didn't use any of the photos I submitted – and the whole 5th grade got up and sang "Best Day of My Life".
Then each kid came up and got a certificate. M's class went first, then A's, then the other two. Even though there was not supposed to be cheering for individual kids, A got a lot of cheers. 🙂
After the certificates, they all processed out again. We had a nice little reception in the front of the school, and that was it! The girls stayed at school for the rest of the afternoon and played on a water slide and hung out. There is a half day tomorrow that M wants to go to. A doesn't want to go. It is totally optional.
Tonight we got ready for the party tomorrow night – moved furniture, cleaned up, etc.
Oh, the girls got report cards today. All 4s. Both girls. Again. 🙂

Then last night,we had a graduation party for the girls and their friends. It was a lot of fun. We had about 60 people, half parents and half kids. We got a taco bar from BBM and a cake from Jennycakes. The kids played outside for a lot of it, despite wet grass and deck from a flash storm right before the party. We bought the Bunch of Balloons, which blows up 30 water balloons in about 10 seconds, and they played with water balloons for a while. There were a LOT of kids here: M, A, Annelise, Ellie, Ellen, Abby, Emily, Zoe, Hannah, Katie, Natalie, Joanna, Molly, Evelyn, Max, Luca, Robin, Aidan and Andrew M, plus siblings Gaby, Caleb, Leah, Brooke, Dylan, Sarah, Benji, and Nora. Parents: Fulds, Murphy/Kohn, Sarah S., Bocians, Chaits, Jen Lanoff, Kaplan/Cook, Marc C, Kennedys, Aladjems, Jan J., Cho/Carrier, Evans, Goldwassers. And grandparents Sandy, Ron, Dina and special guests Stu and Imogene. Whew! Crowded but fun. The kids were wet but had a lot of fun, and parents stayed long past 8:30. I don't have any pics on my phone other than this photo of the beautiful flowers Nana and Grampy sent beforehand:
The party was a fun way to end the year. I'm sad it's over (the year and the party)!
Today's Friday, the last day before camp. N went to an open house at TSNS for camp and will be in the Whales class this summer. The girls are spending some time with Ron and Dina this afternoon. Tonight I am going to a screening of the documentary about Richard Holbrooke, and Daddy is speaking on a panel afterwards. Lots and lots going on!!
