Today is N's 4th birthday (and also Grandma Sandy's birthday!). He had a good day.
We woke him up with breakfast in bed – Daddy made him chocolate chip waffles early this morning.
During the day, he went to the playground with Nana and had a playdate there with his friend Henry. There was a fast-moving storm at one point but they waited it out and stayed for a few hours. Then, after his nap, I came home early from work (I was at a conference downtown) and M, Nana and I woke him up with singing. (He didn't like that.)
A had a playdate after school with her friend Emma. She says that it was the best playdate she's ever had. They went swimming, but it was chilly and windy and they didn't stay very long. They returned to Emma's house and went on the trampoline and hung out.
Tonight, we had Z Burger, shakes, cake and ice cream for dinner. Unsurprisingly, N said, "This is my favorite dinner!" Nana stayed for dinner with us to celebrate. M made the cake and M&A and Daddy decorated it, and M made N toasted marshmallow ice cream, which is delicious.
N opened some presents: a Nationals bat and ball set from A, an Anthony Rendon shirt from M, and a swimming pool for outside and Playmobil Zoo from Daddy and me. Deb and Jonathan also sent a Pop and Play Baseball set. N seems apprehensive about the swimming pool, but later he said he wants to keep it. A spent hours tonight setting up the Playmobil Zoo – so cute.
We hope N had a great birthday. We all love him so much and told him that all day long. He got calls and emails and notes from family and friends across the country.
And happy birthday Grandma! We will celebrate when you are home.
