Hermit Crab Races

We had a fun day today here at Captiva. After another late start, we went to the pool and hung out there for a few hours. The girls play SO nicely with N. I told them yesterday that they were so sweet with him, and M said, "But he's just so cute!" They played with him in the water, played catch, and just kept him occupied and happy. They also played some games with Daddy  - collecting rings that he threw into the pool – and then they invented a game with Andrea Koppel, who was there, where they had to throw the ball through an inner tube and kept track to see who did it the most.

Then tonight we went to a hermit crab race event at a nearby hotel. We went to the early show, which was family-oriented. I'd hate to see what the grownup show at 9PM was like. We each picked a hermit crab and paid $2 to the pot. The winner of the race got 1/4 of half the pot. The guy who runs it was very entertaining. The show took almost 3 hours, which was a long time, but we got there early and had a front row seat when the races actually happened. Here's what we named our crabs:

A: Po-Pokey (named for the horse she rode in Hawaii), #12. It won one of the heats and came in 6th place overall.

M: Pincher, #86.

N: Picture, #3

Me and Daddy: Bruno, #50

Sadly we didn't place 1-5 but A got a kazoo for Po-Pokey winning a heat and N got a kazoo for going up to the guy at the end and thanking him for the crab race. (AWWW)

The wifi here is so weak that I can't post photos right now – will do so tomorrow.
