We have arrived in Italy!
Our flight last night was fine. Delayed by a few hours, but smooth. N slept for about 5 hours of it, but the rest of us didn't sleep that much, so we were really tired today, as was he. We got through customs/passport and then spent 45 minutes at the rental car counter. Then Daddy dusted off his manual driving skills and drove us from the airport up to Como and then to Lezzeno, which is where our villa is. The road was windy and narrow and N got increasingly agitated and then had Big Burp right before we got to the house. Poor boy. He has been good with motion sickness lately so we haven't medicated him on long flights and car rides for at least 6 months. I think he needed it this time.
The house – Villa Chicca – is amazing. In this town of cramped houses and tiny driveways, we have a huge (huge!) yard and a large driveway and parking area. The house overlooks the lake and the public beach. We have 3BRs (there's even another on the 3rd floor) and it's spacious and clean and modern inside. The views are breathtaking.
After we unpacked, we all took a nap and then Daddy and N and I went to a store nearby to get some more food and supplies. We then walked to dinner to a local restaurant that was sadly booked (it overlooks the water and seems quite popular). We ended up getting takeout from there and came back here to eat on our gorgeous patio. The girls give two thumbs up on the food.
Now M is snoozing in front of Olympics – fencing, narrated by Italians so we have no idea what they are talking about – and A is doing a paint-by-numbers kit. I think that I will fall asleep pretty soon.
We feel so lucky to be here in this beautiful spot!
And before I sign off - it's 11:05 here and it has been a very long day – here are some pics from our photos yesterday:
