Labor Day

The girls had a very social day. This morning (after they slept until 9:30!), we had a nice visit from Melissa and her twins, Talia and Brennan. A especially was very cute with them – she likes babies. We went up and played in the attic since it’s relatively child-proofed. The girls like to list all the things you need to bring when you take a baby out: diapers, wipes, medicine, babas, snacks, change of clothes, stroller, blanket, hat, toys. Melissa confirmed that that was a good list.

We had some friends over for dinner tonight who have daughters aged 9 and 7. The girls all got along famously! The older one wants to be a mother’s helper and was incredibly good with the girls. We had so much fun, especially because all the girls disappeared for a long time and let the parents talk!

We’ve read Amelia Bedelia a bit recently, and in the book she makes a lemon meringue pie. The girls have been saying for a while that they wanted to try lemon meringue pie. So we made one today, and it was pretty good! My friends and I got our wires crossed – I told Matt we were MAKING a lemon meringue pie, but he thought I was asking him to BRING one, so we ended up with two tonight. His was store-bought so we did a taste test and the homemade one won! A didn’t even want to try the store one.

Long, long day. One more week until school!

It sounds like all of you had a great day. M and A certainly play well with other children. Glad you had a good Labor Day.
