Last Nutcracker and Christmas Eve

I didn't get to post last night, because it was a late night. It was the final Nutcracker, and in my opinion it was the best one. Energetic audience, excellent performances. No mistakes. It was the best show, and of course I cried through most of it because I was so sad that it was the last one. The girls did great, as always. Usually, I leave after the clowns to go get the girls backstage. This time, I let them stay until the end because their co-bumblebee Frances wanted them to hang out backstage until the end. This meant that 1) I got to see the last 1/4th of the ballet for the first time; and 2) I got to be at the pickup when all of the other ballerinas were coming out. This was fun, because I got to meet people who knew the girls, such as the wardrobe assistants. Even random audience people were walking by and saying, "I think those are the bumblebees!"

The best part is that the girls got a picture with Clara, played by Lily last night. They were SO excited. A has asked to see it many times, and has told many people about it.

Here are some photos from last night. Frances' grandmother made all of the bumblebees some bouquets with yellow flowers and bumblebees in them – very cute.

So that's it for Nutcracker. I have other pics that I can share later, which one of the other bumblebee moms took.

Today is Christmas Eve. We had a pretty quiet day. Tuvana and Anil stopped over this morning. He is 3 now and very cute! And very obsessed with Allie. Hard to believe what a big boy he is now.

Then I took the girls to get frozen yogurt with tons of toppings in Cleveland Park. We stopped at the pet store to return some fish tank gravel, and the girls got lots of entertainment from watching the mice on their treadmill. Totally cracked them up.

We did a little cooking and playing this afternoon, and then had dinner at Grandma Sandy's with Tequila and Stu as well. It was quiet and nice. We watched a bunch of JibJab videos and laughed at campaign videos from 2004.

Tomorrow we will go to Grampy and Nana's for Christmas dinner.

I have photos to upload from Nutcracker, the dentist, and the girls' visit to Pat's house yesterday (while I was at work) to see her and her tree.

Off to stuff holiday cards!

PS The girls want us to leave a note for the reindeer tonight, with some carrots for them to eat, even though they know that Santa doesn't come to this house.

PPS Here are some pics from the yogurt place:
