Light Bulb Cupcakes

What. A. Weekend.

We had A LOT going on. And some of it at the same time!

M had a softball game today and practice yesterday AM. She is getting to know her new team. Today she was walked twice and struck out once and had no action on defense, but her team won 18-12 and they seem to play really well. Not as many errors as the Orioles and they actually get people out. It's fun to watch.

A had a soccer game yesterday. Her team lost 3-2 but it would have been 3-3 if Natalie's goal hadn't been disqualified due to an off-sides penalty. 10 year-olds really don't understand off-sides. N loved being at the game because A's teammates were so excited to see him.

Ballet as usual. Sunday School today. They have a new teacher who seems nice. M says she's "kinda pretty". A says she looks very odd. They have lots of pals in their class this year.

Book club kickoff today! We discussed The City of Ember. We had a full house here – 10 moms and 11 girls. It was a big group – probably too big – but over the year people will start missing due to conflicts, etc.

As is our tradition, we made cupcakes for the kickoff meeting, which we always host. The book is dystopian fiction about a society that is dependent on electricity for light (no sun). So we made lightbulb cupcakes with fondant lightbulbs. The base of the bulbs is brushed silver sugar powder.

I am proud of myself for making it through this weekend solo, which was logistically and physically challenging, and for putting this together, which was also logistically and physically challenging:

Special thanks to Grandma who did 2 loads of laundry for me today because our new machine isn't working until we get the hoses fixed, and to the Campers who fed me dinner last night and gave me adult companionship (with the kids) for a few hours.

Hopefully Daddy will get home soon. He has had a crazy week in Afghanistan.

N starts full-length pre-school tomorrow! 9:15-12:15 MWF.

Here's to a new week!!!
