The news today is that we went to the Women's March downtown. It was pretty amazing. There were tons of people, everywhere. Half a million. We saw people protesting everything, people who had come from all over the country. We went in the early afternoon and missed a lot of the live program, but we still heard almost 2 hours of it before we were able to start marching. We walked a few blocks of Independence Avenue, then a few blocks of Constitution Avenue and then a few of Pennsylvania Avenue. There were so many people that they filled all of those streets.
I feel better after the march, just being around so many people who share m values.
And I am so proud of the kids. N didn't complain about the crowds or the walking, and he wanted to talk about it all tonight at dinner. And M made a great poster. I asked the girls if they liked the march and they were so glad they went.
One of my favorite moments was when a DC police motorcade came by – on bikes and motorcycles and in cars – and all of the people around us stopped and applauded. Some of them waved back at us. It was a good moment.
