Today at lunch I was talking to some friends at work about the movies we all liked as kids. We got on the subject of the girls' movie-viewing preferences.
Here are the movies that we have walked out of in the theater because they were too scary for the girls:
Horton Hears a Hoo
Enchanted
Bee Movie
Happy Feet
Charlotte's Web
Here are the movies that we have turned off at home because they were too scary for the girls:
Happy Feet
Monsters, Inc.
Shrek
Madagascar
Here are the movies that the girls have made it all the way through in the theater:
Kit Kitteridge: An American Girl Story
Flushed Away (eons ago – they had no idea what was going on)
Here are the movies that the girls have made it all the way through at home:
The Sound of Music
Mary Poppins
Finding Nemo (though that one was pretty hard on them, especially M.)
Here are the movies that the girls have rejected in advance for being too scary:
Kung Fu Panda
Wall-E
Bolt
Madagascar 2
M has a very low tolerance for anything scary (like her mother and grandmother). A is slightly better able to handle it, but not that much better.
Coming soon on the blog: a photojournalistic series entitled "Scenes of M & A's Life".
I found it very interesting to learn about the movies M and A did and did not like. I remember when Alison was terrified of the movie “ET” when she was about M and A’s age.
Love,
Aunt Ann
