We went to a birthday dinner/pinball party for Laurie in Bethesda tonight. En route to the car afterwards, N asked Daddy to pick him up and carry him. He said, "I am too tired to walk. It's because I ate too much cake. I should have asked for a smaller piece."

My favorite part of today: going to Safeway with M. She made my least favorite errand much more fun. We also did other errands (in a circle, of course): library, liquor store, UPS store, Child's Play. We saw a lot of people we knew, several of whom we avoided, and enjoyed our small community on a Friday late afternoon.
